8.5. Video recording

How do I set up motion recording?

To configure motion-based recording:

  1. Open the camera's settings panel.

  2. Go to the Recording tab.

  3. Select the option When motion is detected.

The motion detection sensitivity is controlled by a slider. The further to the right, the more sensitive the detector — it will react to smaller objects. In the extreme right position, it may react to very small changes, including raindrops. On the far left, sensitivity is low and the detector will only react to large objects occupying at least half of the screen.

You can test the detector in real time: move the mouse pointer over the running man icon in the lower right corner of the camera image. Detected objects will be highlighted:

  • Blue border — the object is detected but does not trigger recording (below the threshold).

  • Red border — the object exceeds the threshold and recording will start.

How do I configure motion detection sensitivity zones?

You can define specific areas within the camera image where motion detection is active:

  • Open the camera's settings panel and go to the Recording tab.

  • Click the Set Tracking Areas button.

  • In the window that opens, use the mouse pointer to draw a polygon inside the area where you want motion tracking.

  • The polygon must be closed — the last point must coincide with the first. You can press the Enter key to close it automatically.

  • The polygon is filled with red when you hover over the running man icon, confirming the zone is active.

How do I set the archive size (FIFO)?

You can limit the total duration of stored recordings in the archive. When the limit is reached, the oldest files are automatically deleted (first-in, first-out):

  1. Open the camera's settings panel.

  2. Go to the Storage tab.

  3. In the Archive size field, specify the maximum duration in hours or days.

Note that the application calculates the total duration of all recorded video clips, not the calendar period. For example, if you set the limit to 7 days and your recordings exceed 7 days in total duration, the oldest entries will be deleted.

To estimate how much storage one hour of recording uses, select a recorded file, right-click to open its properties, and check the file size and duration:

Can I record to a NAS or network drive?

Yes. You can set a network path as the storage location in the camera's settings panel:

  1. Open the camera's settings panel.

  2. Go to the Storage tab.

  3. Enter the network path (e.g., a mapped drive or UNC path) as the save location.

This works with NAS devices (Synology, WD MyCloud, etc.) and any mapped network drive.

How do I change the recording save location?

To change where recorded files are saved:

  1. Open the camera's settings panel.

  2. Go to the Storage tab.

  3. Specify the desired folder path in the storage location field.

You can also set the archive size limit on the same tab.
