8.8. Troubleshooting
The configuration file is corrupted — what should I do?
A corrupted configuration file is most commonly caused by an unexpected PC power failure or forced shutdown. To fix this:
Navigate to the AnyCam data folder:
C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\AppData\Local\AnyCam
Look for a backup configuration file (named config.xml.backup) in the same folder.

Rename the backup file by removing the .backup suffix to restore the previous working configuration.
If no backup is available, delete the corrupted config.xml file and restart AnyCam — you will need to add your cameras again.
As a last resort, uninstall AnyCam and manually delete the following folders, then reinstall:
C:\Program Files\AnyCam
C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\AppData\Local\AnyCam
C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\AppData\Local\OneZeroFlow
Download the latest installer from: https://anycam.io/download/
Where can I find logs and configuration files?
All AnyCam configuration and log files are stored in:
C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\AppData\Local\AnyCam
Key files:
config.xml — camera configurations and connection settings.
settings.xml — application settings.
Logs/ — diagnostic log files.
You can quickly open this folder from within the application. Click the gear icon in the title bar to open the About window, then click Logs & Configs:

Cannot connect to camera — incorrect password
If you see an error indicating an incorrect password or a lock icon next to the camera address:

Verify that the username and password are entered correctly in the camera settings panel.
Check that you are using the correct credentials for the camera (not the router or DVR login).
If the camera was recently reset, use the default credentials or reconfigure them.
Windows Firewall is blocking the application
If AnyCam cannot connect to cameras, Windows Firewall may be blocking the network access. To fix this:
Open Windows Settings and search for "firewall", then click Firewall & network protection.

Click Allow an app through firewall.

Click Change settings, then Allow another app... and browse to the AnyCam executable:

Repeat the process to add the FFmpeg executable:

Ensure both entries have checkboxes enabled for Private and/or Public networks, then click OK.

Audio sounds distorted during playback
If audio from camera recordings sounds distorted, try increasing the image quality level in the camera settings. The application may compress or distort the audio when processing a low-quality stream. Enabling video conversion and setting a higher quality level often resolves this issue.
